Mega
Highly recommended for Indian food, plus good atmosphere and staff. Top!
First visit, first impression: small and beautiful. Great set up. Great food and service. Moderate prices. It's on the to-do list again.
MoreBest Indian ever!
Favorite restaurant where I often go to eat quickly. Has always tasted good so far, the service is always friendly.
MoreWe recommend. You have to visit
Always good!
The Gandhi is a wonderful restaurant! All employees are extremely friendly and the food is always great. We love the restaurant!
MoreIt works better! Mega delicious. You could rethink the interior design;)
I have been eating at Gandhi regularly for at least 15 years. Best Indian food I've ever eaten. I haven't seen a comparable Indian restaurant in all these years. It is a wonderful culinary highlight every time !!
MoreThere is very tasty and delicious food here. It's friendly and pleasant there. The service is friendly and not pushy.
MoreFood incredibly delicious, service very courteous. Unfortunately and understandably often fully booked, reservations recommended. Looking forward to the next meal at Ghandi.
MoreVery tasty, very polite staff !! Charming boss! (Mondschein's girlfriend)
Great food. Please note: you can only pay with a German debit card or in cash.
We absolutely loved our visit to this Indian restaurant. This was our second visit and we really like the atmosphere, the friendly service, the vintage Indian music and the decorations. ?❤️ The dishes we chose were delicious and served very nicely. We loved the lamb and chicken dishes and they were all very moderately spicy ? There are also small gifts for special occasions, which were a very sweet gesture. What I loved the most was, the waiting time is very less and it's not very crowdy. ?❤️ It's a great place to celebrate small occasions or hangout with friends or colleagues. We loved the ambience and we look forward to the next visit!
MoreVery good Indian restaurant. Very good food and an absolutely friendly staff. I have been there for the 5th time now and always love to go back.
MoreOur Server was in fact amazing and made our meal even more enjoyable along with his big smile and lovely attitude. Many thanks so much for making our family celebration absolutely memorable! My brother had a fantastic birthday, we will be coming again. Do not generally eat out nevertheless if we do, this is actually the best place for good food at reasonable prices. New dishes added on a monthly basis, we were totally pleased with the selection here. We would recommend the table by the windows to discover the best views.
MoreDelicious! Small, fine card and so far everything was totally delicious. However, you should reserve a table in advance, because the space is not so large. But that's the beautiful thing about Gandhi!
MoreThis Indian restaurant is the ultimate temple of tastes. Original Indian chefs prepare perfectly matched culinary delicacies. One of the few restaurants where lamb is prepared with excellence and crumbles with fork pressure. The meat only the best quality is purchased and you can taste it too. The owner is incredibly warm and the service is outstanding. Unfortunately, there will never be another Indian restaurant ?
MoreWe had an amazing experience at this restaurant! Decor and seating was very well done and super cozy experience. Staff was polite and helpful bringing out apps and extra utensils. Food was the best part! Very well done presentation and the sahbzi was delicious! Not to mention their naan bread they make in house, you could taste the freshness! I believe almost everything is made to order, as in no food is frozen which proves their commitment to quality. Would definitely come here again.
MoreThey can close the restaurant if there are no customers before the time they mentioned on their website. They should update website description with immediate effect.
MoreThe best Indian food I have ever eaten (!) In Germany. Authentic and qualitatively incomparable. A great workforce, with extensive knowledge of the dishes. You can recommend something to everyone, are warm and accommodating. Of particular note: the lamb is always tender and never tastes austere (a rarity in restaurants ..) Especially recommended: The homemade lassis and teas!
MoreOne of the nice things with travelling is the possibility to enrich your experience with restaurants and cafés. Since the Indian cuisine is one of my favourites, I often look for an interesting Indian restaurant to visit, and sometimes I am lucky, like when visiting restaurant Gandhi in Braunschweig. Gandhi looks quite different from many other Indian restaurants, it´s interior is relaxed and simple in a quite sober way. You see only few of the decorations and illustrations that you will find in many other Indian restaurants, focus seems to be on what is served on the plates. And quite so – the food was a very pleasant experience. Our order of chicken dishes were quite delicious, carefully spiced in creamy tasty sauces, cooked to perfection. Judged from that, restaurant Gandhi on Schöppenstedter Straße in Braunschweig might very well be one of the better Indian restaurants I have visited. The day we were visiting Gandhi there was a big outdoor event in Braunschweig, and therefore many people spent the summer evening outside. That was lucky for us, since we without problem got a table at the restaurant. The very nice waitress told us that we were lucky, since normally the restaurant is fully booked and you would have to make reservations at least one week in advance. It seems not only we are very pleased with what is served in restaurant Gandhi!
More07.07.2019 After a very long time, we once again had lunch at "Gandhi". We were not disappointed. The service was very good. Not too intrusive, very friendly in explaining the food and with a well-kept German, which one seldom hears even in the gastronomy nowadays ("please", "thank you" and "very much"). At first we thought the waiting times were a little too long, but that contributed to a relaxed atmosphere. All food we ordered (# 1 Subji Pakora Cauliflower, potato and aubergine slices baked in chickpea batter, No. 3 Onion Bhaji In chickpea batter fried balls of onion strips, No. 34 Murgh Kashmiri Chicken breast pieces and Indian cheese with fresh vegetables and fruits, cashews and almonds in mild yoghurt sauce, No. 38 Murgh Muglai Filleted chicken leg meat marinated in yoghurt with Indian spices, prepared with fresh mushrooms in almond-saffron sauce and 40 lamb masala Lamb pieces with various stir-fried vegetables in a spicy, red curry sauce with a little garlic rounded off) were delicious. Unfortunately I still lacked my No. 40 "sharp" ordered the appropriate sharpness. Since I did not want to spice it up, I'll choose "very spicy" next time. The value for money was ok, meat and ingredients were very good. Conclusion: We will not need that much time to come here next time.
MoreNot recommended at all!! Can't be considered as an Indian restaurant! -The food was delivered after 1 hour. -The sabzi had very big pieces of vegetables which is very strange! -The taste was also not so good -- 2/5 stars -If you order Naan they give you a very thick bread (Not Indian at all) -On the chapati, you will find alot of raw flour sprinkled. Please consider other options!! Waste of time and money!
MoreVery friendly staff!! But for me not authentic Indian! 1. The Murgh Tengri Kabab: Was a bit sweet. 2. Murgh Tikka: Was okay. 3. Subji Gandhi: Was good. But then not everyone liked it. 4. Egg Curry India: The best amongst the things we tried. But I would not eat it again because I make something quite similar very often and it is a very easy recipe. 5. Murgh Korma: Major disappointment. Try the one in Dean & David, the best Chicken korma curry in Braunschwieg. 6. Murgh Tandoori Masala: Was good enough. But then it was a bit more sweet for our liking. 7. Butter naan: Second disappointment. Was more like leavened pita bread. 8. Why add potatoes to a chicken curry. If I want to eat potatoes, I will go to the Mensa.
MoreWorst place. Not. Sure if it's an Indian restaurant as nothing in the hotel was Indian. Never order nan - worst nan ever eaten. Nailing jagah fake place under the name of Indian restaurant. Nothing Indian about this place. Don't visit.
MoreFood was great. Reservation required at the weekend. If you are Indian for the first time a little advice would help. Nevertheless, it tasted good. We go back.
MoreNot an authentic Indian restaurant. The nann wasn't a real Indian nan but more like a bread. Murgh makhni tandoor was very sweet. You can avoid this restaurant. The only good thing was hefewies beer, which was not actually Indian. they didn't accept Amex or MasterCard credit cards. Overall food is ok, please avoid if you are expecting good Indian food. The service was extremely slow and the food very much on the expensive side.
MoreThe food is tasty and of good quality. However, the service is slow, and the meal is a little bit expensive. (1 appetizer, 2 curry, 2 ciabatti, 2 beer costed 50 euro).
MoreGood indian food
Of all the Indian restaurants I've been to, the best by far! Excellent dishes professionally prepared and presented. Every level of heat, regardless of whether it is Indian-hot or mild, is superbly seasoned and the large variety of dishes from starters to desserts leaves nothing to be desired. You feel really comfortable in the authentic Indian ambience and the combination of friendly and helpful service as well as the perfectly coordinated and prepared food creates a very pleasant flair. The owner is probably one of the warmest people around. So if you are looking for an Indian restaurant with exceptionally good food, I can only recommend Gandhi, as a long-standing guest, to my heart. Especially now that I am traveling and have tried many other Indian restaurants, I can say that none of them come close to the quality of Gandhi. For me, this restaurant belongs to Braunschweig like no other and everyone who loves good food should have been here at least once. I couldn't imagine that one day this restaurant would no longer exist. I find it difficult to do without Gandhi for the time of my trip. There's just nothing like it for me and I will definitely come back here again and again. Hopefully that will always be possible for me. It's simply the best restaurant and a visit to Gandhi is worth every penny! Highly Recommended!
MoreBest food Friendly environment Great memories
Incredible as a host overall. Great food.Cosy environment. A must visit.
Not as good as Gandhi in Italy. Food quality is not good and can take a while to be served ambience is fine and well located. Could do much more to improve food quality. It is mostly Bangladeshi food neither Indian or German. Could have done well with such a large property. Even drink choices are not great . The menu card is printed nicely.
MoreAmazing food and really good service. Well worth the money. Book early as it gets busy.
MoreVery good food and service, I totally recommend it
Gut
I have been in Germany for over 5 years and been to many Indian restaurants. I cannot categorise the food in this restaurant as Indian food at all. I am giving 2 stars just because the behaviour of the staff was good. In terms of Indian food, as this is supposed to be an Indian restaurant, I would give it 1 star.
MoreThis was my first Indian restaurant visit after my visit to the "best ever" Indian restaurant in continental Europe, so my standard about food were too high which explains the "good" rating instead of very good. Firstly it is hotel by Bangeldeshi German which has Chef from Kolkata that means food has a lot of East Indian flavor instead of Mughlai or North Indian flavor that one would look for in the dishes they offer. I would not say it is bad but it is a different taste than authentic North Indian/Punjabi/Mughalai. They as most of the Indian restaurants in the area do not have a Tandoor(Indian clay oven) so your Tandoori Chicken would be actually from electric oven. We ordered Chicken tikka(as starter) and Mutton Korma. Chicken tikka was taste wise ok as it missed the feel of tandoor. Mutton Korma was nice, especially gravy was very Kolkatan. Surprise was Naan, so we were supplied with a bread which could come close to a Sheermaal but definitely not a Naan. I explained to the waitress and she later agreed. I liked the decor cos it was not very "trying-to-be_stereotyped-Indian", it gave a very nice German look. Most appealing part was the service, very friendly half German daughter of the owner waited our table. She did her best to explain the food, was open to opinions. Overall good experience, would definitely visit it again myself and recommend others.
